Brian Hong
Research Associate
Brian has been studying coastal ecosystems in Southern California for over ten years. As a marine ecologist, Brian monitors the rocky intertidal community across Southern California’s islands and mainland. He earned his Master of Science in Biology at the University of California, San Diego for his thesis, “Latitudinal variation in the response of tidepool copepods to mean and daily range in temperature”. His certificates include wilderness first aid and CPR. Additionally, he is capable of providing taxonomic expertise on various intertidal species, and is proficient in statistical analysis using the program, R. Brian enjoys hiking, snorkeling, drawing, and walks with his cat. He is currently working on investigating microhabitat use and predator avoidance for the endangered black abalone, Haliotis Cracherodii, in collaboration with the Long Lab at San Diego State University.
