Elizabeth Thanh Tam Nguyen
Community Engagement Specialist & Educator
Elizabeth is a first-generation Vietnamese American and San Diego native. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2022 with a B.S. in Marine Biology. Before college, Elizabeth volunteered at the Birch Aquarium where she discovered her passion for marine conservation and community outreach. During undergrad, she participated in a variety of research projects from dissecting otoliths from rockfish larva to determining equitable use of drones for monitoring mangroves. She felt most connected to her community at UCSD when she joined the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. From there, she has looked for more opportunities that combined marine biology and community outreach with EDI at the core. Elizabeth is excited to be a part of the outreach team at NMMF to continue sharing the amazing research with the public and connect with community members about marine mammals and our shared oceans.
