Jared Stephens is a marine biologist with a passion for marine mammals and bioacoustics. He completed is Masters degree in Marine Mammal Science from St. Andrews University, where he studied the use of target acoustic startle devices to help reduce negative interactions between seals and fisheries. While completing his B.S. in Marine Biology, he worked with the Eckerd College Dolphin Project studying the acoustic behavior of bottlenose dolphins in Tampa Bay, FL. Jared is currently studying the psychoacoustic behavior of killer whales. He also supports projects for Ocean Science Analytics by developing software programs to analyze acoustic and biological data. Outside of the foundation, he enjoys surfing and playing chess.
