Patchouly graduated from Wittenberg University in Ohio in 2003 with a degree in Biology and Psychology.
After teaching marine biology classes for a year at the University of Georgia’s Marine Education Center and Aquarium, she earned a Master of Psychology degree from SUNY Buffalo. Patchouly has carried out research with humans, hermit crabs, rats, sea lions, and humpback whales.
In 2008 she participated in the Navy Marine Mammal Program’s Animal Care and Training Internship; two years later, she returned to San Diego as the Internship Coordinator for the NMMF. In addition to helping run the internship program and participating in community outreach, Patchouly continues to participate in marine mammal research with the Foundation.
