NMMF - Ross Martinson

Ross Martinson, B.S., is a biologist with the Conservation Medicine team, and he brings a unique training background to the crew in Charleston.

Ross has more than 15 years of experience in animal handling, care, and training – most of those years spent with NMMF. Throughout his work with the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program, he was a part of multiple deployments with marine mammals, both across the US and abroad. In 2013, he segmented his career into conservation research, participating in bottlenose dolphin health assessments as part of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill investigation in the Gulf of Mexico. Ross’ fieldwork experience eventually transitioned him into a full-time conservation medicine role, where he currently supports field research and data management throughout the Southeastern US.
