Ashley Munguia

Research Assistant

A Southern California native, Ashley has nurtured a lifelong passion for animal care and cognition. While completing her undergraduate education, she worked as a research assistant in the UCSD Dolphin Cognition Lab, later completing the animal care & training/advanced internships offered by the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program. Additionally, she worked as a lab tech in the UCSD cortical systems lab and studied the cocktail party paradigm in marmoset monkeys. Ashley received her B.S. in Cognitive Behavioral Neuroscience from UCSD in 2025 and is beyond excited to keep working with the Conservation Biology team and animals! She hopes to continue learning about cetaceans, primates, and pinnipeds and aid in exotic animal conservation efforts. Off the clock, Ashley loves to dance salsa and bachata, read at the beach, and whisk her dachshund Teddy away on grand adventures!
